A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the creation of the criminal offense of unlawful |
|
|
solicitation of residence address. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 38, Penal Code, is amended by adding |
|
|
Section 38.155 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 38.155. UNLAWFUL SOLICITATION OF RESIDENCE ADDRESS. |
|
|
(a) A person commits an offense if the person requests, in exchange |
|
|
for anything of value, the residence address of an individual the |
|
|
person knows or reasonably believes to be a customs and border |
|
|
protection officer or border patrol agent of the United States |
|
|
Customs and Border Protection or a peace officer engaged in law |
|
|
enforcement activities related to border security with the intent |
|
|
to cause harm or a threat of harm to the individual or a member of |
|
|
the individual's family or household. |
|
|
(b) An offense under this section is a felony of the first |
|
|
degree. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect on the 91st day after the |
|
|
last day of the legislative session. |
