R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The year 2023 marks the 25th anniversary of the
  Greater Dallas Veterans Day Parade, which is being held in Dallas on
  November 9; and
         WHEREAS, Since 1998, the Greater Dallas Veterans Day Parade
  has been supported by the Greater Dallas Veterans Foundation; one
  of the nation's largest Veterans Day parades with more than 5,000
  participants, the event commemorates the signing of the Armistice
  at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, thereby
  ending World War I; November 11 became known as Armistice Day and
  was eventually made a legal holiday, and in 1954, it was renamed
  Veterans Day to honor all who have performed military service in our
  country's behalf; and
         WHEREAS, Beginning at the City Hall Plaza in downtown Dallas,
  the parade will feature speeches and appearances by dignitaries and
  military leaders and include the traditional Eleventh Hour
  Ceremony, a symbolic wreath laying, the playing of taps, and a
  military flyover in the missing man formation; moreover,
  individuals representing the branches of the U.S. armed forces will
  take the oath of enlistment; and
         WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt of gratitude to the
  men and women who have put their lives on the line in defense of our
  safety and freedom, and the Greater Dallas Veterans Day Parade is a
  fitting tribute to their sacrifice and dedication to duty; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 3rd
  Called Session, hereby commemorate the 25th anniversary of the
  Greater Dallas Veterans Day Parade and extend to all those
  attending the event sincere best wishes for a meaningful and
  memorable experience; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Greater Dallas Veterans Foundation as an
  expression of high regard by the Texas Senate.
