R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Claude Wayne Webb Sr. of Mineola on May 30, 2023, at the
  age of 89; and
         WHEREAS, The son of William Carl Lewis and Helen Webb Cook,
  Claude Webb was born on October 4, 1933, and he grew up with the
  companionship of a sister, Pat; he was a member of the varsity
  basketball team at Morgan High School, where he graduated in 1952;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Webb worked as a truck driver for a supply
  company before taking on a role in management; he went on to
  establish his own business, and under his able leadership, the
  company grew to encompass three stores; he was later offered a
  position as a manufacturer's representative; active in his
  community, he was involved in the Mineola Masonic Lodge and the
  Sharon Shrine temple; he was also a longtime member of the First
  Baptist Church in Mineola, where he volunteered in the nursery; and
         WHEREAS, In 1952, Mr. Webb met the love of his life, the
  former Elva Jo Lewis, and the couple were wed in December 1953; they
  shared a fulfilling marriage that spanned more than six and a half
  decades until Mrs. Webb's passing in 2019; Mr. Webb took great
  pride in their two children, Claude and Loraine, and over the years,
  he had the pleasure of welcoming into his family nine
  grandchildren, Alex, Rebekah, Andrew, Emily, Jessica, Caroline,
  Hondo, Jackson, and Katie, and six great-grandchildren, Hannah,
  Jake, John, Claire, Joseph, and Sophia; and
         WHEREAS, In his leisure hours, Mr. Webb attended his
  grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's numerous sports events,
  and he traveled across Texas as well as out of state to watch them
  play; he also loved NASCAR, golf, and games such as dominoes and
  cards, and he enjoyed visiting Cedar Lake Creek; and
         WHEREAS, Although Claude Webb is greatly missed, this beloved
  man has left his family and friends with many cherished memories,
  and he will forever hold a special place in their hearts; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 3rd
  Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Claude Wayne Webb
  Sr. and extend heartfelt sympathy to his family and many friends;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Claude Webb.
