R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, All who shared in the life of Robert W. Stone of
  Tyler were deeply saddened by his death on October 11, 2023, at the
  age of 85; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Thomas and May Stone, Bob Stone was born
  on August 29, 1938, in Shreveport, Louisiana, and grew up with a
  brother, James; he graduated from Byrd High School with the Class of
  1956 and continued his education at Tyler Junior College and
  Southern Methodist University; and
         WHEREAS, Joining the U.S. Marine Corps, Mr. Stone served
  stateside as a jet engine mechanic for six and a half years; he
  subsequently embarked on a successful banking career that spanned
  three decades and included tenures with Tyler Bank & Trust and Texas
  Heritage National Bank, and he later formed Global Mailing Service,
  Inc.; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Stone gave back to his community as president of
  the Tyler Jaycees and through his involvement in a number of
  organizations, such as the Cub Scouts, the Red Cross, and the East
  Texas Bass Association; a man of faith, he served on the vestry and
  church building fund for St. Francis Episcopal Church in Tyler; in
  recognition of his contributions to his fellow citizens, he
  received a number of honors, including the W. C. Windsor Award from
  the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Stone enjoyed a rewarding family life with his
  wife of 62 years, Judy, and his four sons, Robert, James, Richard,
  and Ronald, who preceded his father in death; with the passing
  years, Mr. Stone was blessed with eight grandchildren and seven
  great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Bob Stone lived a life that was rich in personal and
  professional achievements, and he will forever be a source of
  inspiration to those he leaves behind; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 3rd
  Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Robert W. Stone
  and extend heartfelt condolences to all who mourn his passing; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Bob Stone.
