R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Proud members of the Mount Pleasant Lions Club are |
|
|
celebrating the 75th anniversary of their organization's founding |
|
|
in 2023; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Chartered in 1948, the Mount Pleasant Lions Club |
|
|
serves the greater Mount Pleasant community under the umbrella of |
|
|
Lions Clubs International, the world's largest service club |
|
|
organization with 1.4 million members in more than 200 countries |
|
|
across the globe; guided by the motto "We Serve," members volunteer |
|
|
their time to benefit their communities, meet humanitarian needs, |
|
|
and promote peace and international understanding; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Mount Pleasant Lions have contributed to many |
|
|
worthy initiatives over the years, including supporting Texas Lions |
|
|
Camp and the local food pantry, paying for vision screeners and eye |
|
|
exams, and providing scholarships for area youth; club members have |
|
|
also participated in numerous service projects, such as |
|
|
constructing pavilions at Town Lake Park, the Fair Park Baseball |
|
|
Complex, and the county park at Lake Bob Sandlin; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, True to its mission, the Mount Pleasant Lions Club |
|
|
has made a lasting and positive difference in the lives of countless |
|
|
individuals, and it is indeed a pleasure to honor the organization |
|
|
on this special milestone; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 3rd |
|
|
Called Session, hereby commemorate the 75th anniversary of the |
|
|
Mount Pleasant Lions Club and extend to its members sincere |
|
|
appreciation for their dedicated service to the community; and, be |
|
|
it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the Mount Pleasant Lions Club as an expression of high |
|
|
regard by the Texas Senate. |
