R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Neal Barton Jr. of Tyler celebrated his 20th |
|
|
anniversary with KETK-TV on October 20, 2023, providing a fitting |
|
|
opportunity to recognize him for his outstanding career in |
|
|
broadcasting; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Barton has gained extensive experience in the |
|
|
newsroom, including as a reporter for sports, news, and weather; |
|
|
over the course of more than two decades, he delivered forecasts to |
|
|
major cities such as Dallas, Seattle, and Nashville, and he served |
|
|
as a guest meteorologist on ABC's Good Morning America for many |
|
|
years; he has held the position of news director at KETK for nearly |
|
|
13 years, and he hosts several of the station's news programs as |
|
|
well as a commentary program, My Point of View; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Among his many achievements, Mr. Barton has |
|
|
received Associated Press Awards for Best Meteorologist, and in |
|
|
2002, he won an Emmy for best coverage of the Handley/Fort Worth |
|
|
tornado; he has also received a seal of approval from the American |
|
|
Meteorological Society and National Weather Association; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Neal Barton has long served East Texas residents as |
|
|
a trusted source of information, and he may reflect with pride on |
|
|
all that he has accomplished; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 3rd |
|
|
Called Session, hereby congratulate Neal Barton on the occasion of |
|
|
his 20th anniversary with KETK-TV and extend to him sincere best |
|
|
wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Barton as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
Senate. |
