R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, All who shared in the life of Steven A. Shamlian of
  Harlingen were deeply saddened by his passing on August 31, 2023, at
  the age of 71; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Harlingen on February 6, 1952, Steve
  Shamlian was the son of Calvin Shamlian and Bernice Wyrick Bottoms;
  he was the owner of Shamlian Construction and spent many years
  working in the wholesale business alongside his father; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Shamlian benefited from
  the love and support of his wife, Liz, with whom he shared 16 years;
  he was the proud father of two children, Nicole and Steven, and with
  the passing years, he had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to
  include three grandchildren, Cole, Mary, and Cayde; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Shamlian was passionate about the outdoors and
  took pleasure in hunting and fishing; renowned for his skills as a
  pitmaster, he collected 80 International Barbeque Cookers
  Association grand champion and reserve grand champion titles,
  including the coveted Smokin' On the Rio State Championship in
  Mercedes; outgoing and gregarious, he enjoyed entertaining friends
  and family with stories of his adventures; and
         WHEREAS, Although Steve Shamlian is deeply missed, memories
  of his generosity of spirit, his infectious smile, and his devotion
  to his loved ones remain to comfort and inspire those he leaves
  behind; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 3rd
  Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Steven
  A. Shamlian and extend sincere condolences to the members of his
  family: to his wife, Liz Shamlian; to his children, Nicole Charvat
  and her husband, Cary, and Steven Shamlian and his wife, Mona; to
  his grandchildren, Cole Charvat, Mary Charvat, and Cayde Shamlian;
  and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Steve Shamlian.
