SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 87
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the award-winning Sunset Elementary School in Dumas on
  receiving the 2023 National Blue Ribbon Award; and
 
         WHEREAS, Sanctioned by the National Blue Ribbon Schools
  Program sponsored by the United States Department of Education,
  the award recognizes high-achieving schools and schools that
  bridge the achievement gap; the students and educators of Sunset
  Elementary School were recognized for their exemplary
  performance, and their families and community members were
  credited with nurturing a culture of achievement that creates
  opportunities for the future; and
 
         WHEREAS, Through their hard work and determination, the
  students and faculty of Sunset Elementary School have reached the
  pinnacle of academic excellence, and their outstanding
  accomplishment of being named a National Blue Ribbon School is a
  shining example to other schools and districts across the Lone
  Star State; and
 
         WHEREAS, It is truly fitting that this exceptional school
  receive special recognition for attaining a level of academic
  excellence that will be a source of inspiration to the members of
  the Dumas community and to the Dumas Independent School District
  for years to come; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
  Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend the students,
  educators, and faculty members of Sunset Elementary School on
  earning a National Blue Ribbon School Award for 2023; and, be
  it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the school as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
