CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, Jerod Foster is receiving a Distinguished Alumni |
|
Award from the Texas Tech Alumni Association on November 17, 2023; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Each year, the Texas Tech Alumni Association honors |
|
graduates of Texas Tech University who have made a significant |
|
impact on the lives of others through their professional |
|
achievements and community involvement; and |
|
WHEREAS, Jerod Foster is an award-winning travel and |
|
conservation photographer, filmmaker, and producer, and his |
|
clients have included The Nature Conservancy, the Bullock Texas |
|
State History Museum, Texas Monthly, and The New York Times; early |
|
in his career, he was employed at the Texas Techsan magazine, and he |
|
currently serves as an associate professor of practice in the |
|
College of Media and Communication at Texas Tech University; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Foster has authored seven books on photography |
|
and visual storytelling, including Between Two Rivers: Photography |
|
and Poems Between the Brazos and the Rio Grande, which was published |
|
by Texas Tech Press and was recognized among the top 100 university |
|
press books in 2020 by Literary Hub; he is also in the process of |
|
producing a documentary on the endangered lesser prairie chicken as |
|
well as a large-scale documentary series on exploring the Great |
|
Plains via cycling; he holds a doctorate in mass communications; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, The accomplishments of noteworthy alumni are a |
|
source of great pride to all those associated with Texas Tech, and |
|
Jerod Foster is indeed deserving of this prestigious honor; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the 88th Legislature of the State of Texas, |
|
4th Called Session, hereby congratulate Jerod Foster on being named |
|
a Distinguished Alumni by the Texas Tech Alumni Association and |
|
extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Foster as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives and Senate. |
