R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt at |
|
the loss of Lieutenant Milton Gabriel Resendez of the San Benito |
|
Police Department, who died in the line of duty on October 17, 2023, |
|
at the age of 54; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born to Meliton and Susana M. Resendez on |
|
September 2, 1969, Milton Resendez grew up with the companionship |
|
of his five siblings, José, Terry, Mauricio, Xavier, and |
|
Jacqueline; after graduating from San Benito High School, he |
|
attended Texas Southmost College and the Lower Rio Grande Valley |
|
Development Council Police Academy on the way to a career in law |
|
enforcement; he was employed with the Brownsville and Palm Valley |
|
Police Departments before joining the San Benito Consolidated |
|
Independent School District's police force, and he spent the last |
|
26 years of his career with the San Benito Police Department; and |
|
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Resendez found great fulfillment in |
|
protecting and serving the residents of his hometown of San Benito, |
|
and he demonstrated tremendous courage and devotion to duty up |
|
until the final moments of his life; and |
|
WHEREAS, Blessed with a family whom he adored, Lieutenant |
|
Resendez shared 27 years of marriage with the love of his life, |
|
Melissa G. Resendez, and he enjoyed the affection of many nieces, |
|
nephews, and godchildren; he was an avid comic book and toy |
|
collector, and he also took pleasure in gardening, watching movies, |
|
cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers and Houston Texans, and |
|
listening to his favorite band, KISS; and |
|
WHEREAS, Serving the community he loved with honor and |
|
dedication, Milton Resendez embodied the highest ideals of his |
|
profession, and his heroism and sacrifice will long be remembered |
|
by all those whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
|
of Lieutenant Milton Gabriel Resendez and extend heartfelt sympathy |
|
to his family, his friends, and his brothers and sisters in blue; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Milton |
|
Resendez. |
