R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Musician, songwriter, and producer Édgar Barrera
  collected three trophies at the 24th Latin Grammy Awards held in
  Seville, Spain, on November 16, 2023; and
         WHEREAS, Nominated for 13 awards, Mr. Barrera was the
  inaugural winner in the Songwriter of the Year category, and he
  received awards for Best Producer and Best Regional Song for the
  cumbia-norteña anthem, "Un X100to," which features international
  superstar Bad Bunny and the Texas band Grupo Frontera; he has now
  earned a total of 21 Latin Grammys in his illustrious career; and
         WHEREAS, A native of McAllen, Mr. Barrera grew up in Miguel
  Alemán, Tamaulipas, Mexico, and started a band during his youth
  with his brother and cousins; he was later offered a scholarship to
  the Berklee College of Music but instead opted to move to Miami to
  intern for songwriter-producer Andres Castro; in 2016, he and
  Columbian singer Maluma cowrote the single, "Sin Contrato," and in
  the subsequent years, he collaborated with Mexican artist Christian
  Nodal and found crossover success in North America with the release
  of Ariana Grande's single, "Boyfriend"; and
         WHEREAS, With No. 1 hits in every Latin genre, Mr. Barrera
  crafts songs that implement acoustic instruments and build on the
  traditions of mariachi, salsa, bachata, and merengue; over the
  years, he has cut tracks with such acclaimed artists as Christina
  Aguilera, Shakira, Selena Gomez, Camila Cabello, Daddy Yankee,
  Becky G, The Weeknd, and Peso Pluma; in 2015, he received a Grammy
  for Carlos Vives' "More Deep Heart" in the Best Tropical Latin Album
  category; moreover, he is the founder of BorderKid Records, a label
  he launched in February 2022 that counts Alex Luna, Neeus, and Grupo
  Frontera as clients; and
         WHEREAS, Through his immense talent and dedication to his
  craft, Édgar Barrera has delighted and inspired countless music
  fans in the Lone Star State and beyond, and he is truly deserving of
  these prestigious awards; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate Édgar Barrera
  on winning three 2023 Latin Grammy Awards and extend to him sincere
  best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Barrera as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
