SENATE RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Byrne Construction Services on the centennial of the
  company's founding; and
         WHEREAS, A veteran-owned minority business enterprise,
  Byrne Construction Services is a respected construction services
  firm that was founded as Thos. S. Byrne on July 17, 1923, in Fort
  Worth by the distinguished Thomas Sneed Byrne, a native Texan and
  an alumnus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; and
         WHEREAS, Through 100 years of operation, Byrne
  Construction Services has made an indelible mark on the Texas
  landscape, shaping the skylines of major cities and contributing
  to the growth and development of communities through the
  company's commitment to the principles of excellence, quality,
  and service; and
         WHEREAS, The firm's first milestone project, Montgomery
  Ward's regional headquarters, was completed in 1928, and since
  that time, Byrne Construction Services has continued to exceed
  the expectations of its clients; the company has set high
  standards through its work on such architecturally significant
  and high-quality projects as the award-winning Kimbell Art
  Museum in Fort Worth, which the firm completed in 1972; and
         WHEREAS, In the mid-1990s, United States Army veteran John
  Avila Jr. acquired the firm and soon expanded its presence and
  influence across the state; he did this while fostering
  long-lasting relationships and a warm and welcoming atmosphere
  among the firm's employees and clients; and
         WHEREAS, Under his direction, the firm strengthened its
  portfolios in aviation construction, health care facilities,
  historic restorations, commercial and office buildings,
  education facilities, and in high-end residential structures
  with a pioneering focus on the use of new technology in
  construction; in 2015, John assumed the role of chairman, and his
  sons, Matthew and Paul Avila, took over the leadership of the
  firm; they have since guided the firm to continued success and
  have upheld their father's legacy of innovation and superior
  craftsmanship; and
         WHEREAS, One of the largest construction services firms in
  the state, Byrne Construction Services rose from its humble
  beginnings to become a prosperous and highly regarded company
  that has built and beautified Texas communities for generations,
  and it is truly fitting that this exemplary business receive
  special recognition on the centennial of its founding; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
  Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend Byrne
  Construction Services on 100 years of operation and extend to the
  company's leadership and staff best wishes for the future; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the firm as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
