R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their
  memories of Carolyn Doss Kerns of Gladewater, who passed away on
  August 19, 2023, at the age of 88; and
         WHEREAS, Born in November 1934, the former Carolyn Doss was
  one of 10 children born to Leonard and Ludie Doss; she grew up in the
  East Texas area and graduated from Kilgore High School in 1953; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Kerns married Kenneth W. Kerns in 1955, and the
  couple shared a rewarding marriage until his passing in 1991; she
  was the proud mother of three children, Kevan, Karen, and Kenna, and
  with the passing years, she had the privilege of seeing her family
  grow to include five grandchildren, Rachel, Rebeka, Lucas, John,
  and Reid, and two great-grandchildren, Everett and Leo; and
         WHEREAS, A woman of faith, Mrs. Kerns was a longtime
  congregant of First United Methodist Church; she was an active
  member of the Creative Christians group and particularly enjoyed
  making Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls; in addition to being a skilled
  seamstress, she was a talented cook, and over the years, her
  homemade brownies brought joy to many; and
         WHEREAS, Although Carolyn Kerns will be deeply missed, those
  who held her dear will forever remember the warmth and kindness she
  brought into their lives; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 4th
  Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Carolyn Doss
  Kerns and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family:
  to her children, Kevan Kerns and his wife, Terry, Karen Carson and
  her husband, Richard, and Kenna Cook and her husband, Larry; to her
  grandchildren, Rachel Haynes and her husband, Kevin, Rebeka Eaton
  and her husband, Jared, Lucas Cook and his wife, Courtney, John
  Robert Carson and his wife, Jordan, and Reid Carson; to her
  great-grandchildren, Everett Haynes and Leo Cook; and to her other
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Carolyn Kerns.
