R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and |
|
|
meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends |
|
|
of Jesus Adalberto Lucio of Brownsville, who passed away on |
|
|
November 24, 2023, at the age of 71; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The son of Eduardo and Josefa Lucio, "Jesse" Lucio |
|
|
was born in Brownsville on September 3, 1952; he grew up with nine |
|
|
siblings, Beatrice, Eddie, Bertie, Helen, Maggie, David, Bob, Joe, |
|
|
and Richard; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Lucio taught math in the Brownsville |
|
|
Independent School District and later became assistant principal at |
|
|
Sunny Glen Children's Home; in addition, he enjoyed a career as a |
|
|
golf pro, beginning with a part-time job at the Brownsville Country |
|
|
Club in 1981; he went on to serve as head coach at The University of |
|
|
Texas-Brownsville/Texas Southmost College from 1998 to 2004, and he |
|
|
was employed at the First Tee of Greater Brownsville from 2006 to |
|
|
2012; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, On July 5, 1996, Mr. Lucio married the love of his |
|
|
life, Ada Ramirez; the devoted couple raised four children, |
|
|
Jessica, Jaqueline, Anthony, and Julie, and their treasured family |
|
|
later grew to include a host of grandchildren; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Lucio drew strength from his Christian faith, |
|
|
and it helped sustain him through such challenges as the death of |
|
|
his brother, Joe, and his grandson, Baby Jesse; through the years, |
|
|
he set an inspiring example of compassion and forgiveness, and he |
|
|
was always ready to give someone a second chance or extend a helping |
|
|
hand to those in need; an avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing, |
|
|
hunting, sharing sunsets on the boat, and pondering the weather and |
|
|
the heavens; he had a passion for music and would linger in his car |
|
|
to savor the final notes of a good song; in addition, he was a loyal |
|
|
fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns and found camaraderie |
|
|
in discussing games with fellow football aficionados; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Although Jesse Lucio will be deeply missed, the |
|
|
passage of time will never diminish the kindness and love that he |
|
|
brought into the lives of all who had the good fortune to know him; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 4th |
|
|
Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Jesus Adalberto |
|
|
"Jesse" Lucio and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his |
|
|
family: to his wife, Ada; to his son, Anthony Lucio; to his |
|
|
daughters, Jessica Lucio Marren, Jaqueline Lucio Stromquist, and |
|
|
Julie Lucio; to his brothers, Eddie, David, Bobby, and Ricky; to his |
|
|
sisters, Bea, Bertha, Helen, and Maggie; to his seven |
|
|
grandchildren; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be |
|
|
it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this |
|
|
day, it do so in memory of Jesse Lucio. |
