Amend HB 2976 (house committee report) as follows:
(1) On page 1, line 7, strike "A" and substitute "Subject to Subsection (a-1), a".
(2) On page 1, between lines 12 and 13, insert the following subsection:
(a-1) Before offering an elective course described by Subsection (a), a school district or open-enrollment charter school must first establish and implement an approval process for the curriculum for the course under which the district or school receives input and approval from, as applicable:
(1) the superintendent of the district or the person who serves the function of a superintendent of the school;
(2) the board of trustees of the district or the governing body of the school; and
(3) parents of students enrolled in the district or school.
