AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

 

H.B. 639 amends current law relating to the number of temporary licenses to conduct bingo issued to certain authorized organizations in a calendar year.

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.

 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

 

SECTION 1. Amends Sections 2001.103(c) and (e), Occupations Code, as follows:

 

(c) Prohibits an authorized organization that does not hold a regular license to conduct bingo from receiving more than 12 temporary licenses in a calendar year. Deletes existing text prohibiting an organization from receiving more than six temporary licenses in a calendar year.

 

(e) Prohibits an authorized organization that holds an annual license to conduct bingo, rather than an authorized organization that holds an annual license to conduct bingo, notwithstanding Subsection (c), from receiving more than 24 temporary licenses during the 12-month period following the issuance or renewal of the license.�

 

SECTION 2. Effective date: September 1, 2023.
