A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the creation by the Texas Commission on Environmental |
|
|
Quality of a plan to protect water treatment facilities from |
|
|
catastrophes. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. (a) The Texas Commission on Environmental |
|
|
Quality shall create a plan to protect water treatment facilities |
|
|
from: |
|
|
(1) electrical outages; |
|
|
(2) catastrophic weather events; |
|
|
(3) terrorist attacks; |
|
|
(4) the projected effects of climate change; and |
|
|
(5) other potential disruptions to providing water |
|
|
service. |
|
|
(b) The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality shall |
|
|
consult with other state agencies or interested persons as needed |
|
|
to facilitate the creation of the plan. |
|
|
(c) Not later than September 1, 2024, the Texas Commission |
|
|
on Environmental Quality shall submit the plan to the governor and |
|
|
the legislature. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
