A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the labeling and sale of Texas honey. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

|
SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 131, Agriculture Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 131.085 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 131.085. USE OF "TEXAS HONEY" ON LABEL. A person may |
|
|
not label, sell, or keep, offer, or expose for sale a product |
|
|
identified on its label as "Texas honey" unless the product |
|
|
consists exclusively of honey produced from apiaries in Texas. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
