A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a highway toll exemption for public school buses. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 372, Transportation Code, |
|
|
is amended by adding Section 372.059 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 372.059. PUBLIC SCHOOL BUSES. (a) A toll project |
|
|
entity may not require a school bus exempt from registration fees |
|
|
under Section 502.453 to pay a toll for use of a toll project. |
|
|
(b) This section does not affect the ability of a toll |
|
|
project entity to adopt policies or rules regarding the use of a |
|
|
toll project or managed lane of the entity, including policies or |
|
|
rules prohibiting the use of the toll project or managed lane by |
|
|
vehicles unable to maintain minimum designated travel speeds. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
