A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to contracting with companies that boycott or discriminate |
|
|
against certain entities. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. This Act may be cited as the "Freedom of Speech |
|
|
Act." |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 2400.0015, Government Code, is amended |
|
|
to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 2400.0015. APPLICABILITY. This chapter does not apply |
|
|
to an investment prohibited under Chapter 808 [or a contract |
|
|
prohibited under Chapter 2271]. |
|
|
SECTION 3. The following chapters of the Government Code |
|
|
are repealed: |
|
|
(1) Chapter 2271; |
|
|
(2) Chapter 2274, as added by Chapter 529 (S.B. 13), |
|
|
Acts of the 87th Legislature, Regular Session, 2021; and |
|
|
(3) Chapter 2274, as added by Chapter 530 (S.B. 19), |
|
|
Acts of the 87th Legislature, Regular Session, 2021. |
|
|
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
