A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to the use of parental leave, family and medical leave, |
|
vacation leave, and sick leave by certain state employees. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 661.252(b), Government Code, is amended |
|
to read as follows: |
|
(b) The policy must provide clear and objective guidelines |
|
to establish under what circumstances an employee of the agency may |
|
be entitled to or granted: |
|
(1) parental leave; |
|
(2) family and medical leave; |
|
(3) vacation leave; |
|
(4) sick leave; and |
|
(5) each other type of leave provided by this chapter. |
|
SECTION 2. Section 661.912(b), Government Code, is amended |
|
to read as follows: |
|
(b) An [The employee must first use all available and |
|
applicable paid vacation and sick leave while taking leave under |
|
this section, except that an] employee who is receiving temporary |
|
disability benefits or workers' compensation benefits while taking |
|
leave under this section is not required to [first] use |
|
[applicable] paid vacation or sick leave [while receiving those |
|
benefits]. |
|
SECTION 3. Section 661.913(b), Government Code, is |
|
repealed. |
|
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
