A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to counties required to hold an election to approve a |
|
|
reduction or reallocation of funding or resources for certain |
|
|
county law enforcement agencies. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 120.001, Local Government Code, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 120.001. APPLICABILITY. This chapter applies only to |
|
|
a county with a population of more than 750,000 [one million]. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|
|
to a county budget adopted for a fiscal year beginning on or after |
|
|
the effective date of this Act. A county budget adopted for a |
|
|
fiscal year beginning before the effective date of this Act is |
|
|
governed by the law in effect on the date the budget was adopted, |
|
|
and that law is continued in effect for that purpose. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
