A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the name of and the course levels offered at Sul Ross
  State University Rio Grande College.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Sections 96.01 and 96.02, Education Code, are
  amended to read as follows:
         Sec. 96.01.  SUL ROSS STATE UNIVERSITY.  Sul Ross State
  University is a coeducational institution of higher education
  located in the city of Alpine, with an [upper-level] educational
  campus [center] known as Sul Ross State University Middle Rio
  Grande Region [College] operated in the cities of Del Rio, Eagle
  Pass, and Uvalde.  The university is under the management and
  control of the Board of Regents, Texas State University System.
         Sec. 96.02.  REFERENCE TO UVALDE STUDY CENTER.  A reference
  in law to the Uvalde Study Center of Sul Ross State University means
  Sul Ross State University Middle Rio Grande Region [College].
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
