A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to county appropriations to historical foundations or |
|
organizations. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 318.021, Local Government Code, is |
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 318.021. APPROPRIATIONS TO HISTORICAL FOUNDATIONS[: |
|
CERTAIN COUNTIES]. The commissioners court of a county [with a |
|
population of 239,000 to 825,000] may appropriate money from the |
|
general fund of the county to a historical foundation or |
|
organization in the county for the purpose of purchasing, |
|
constructing, restoring, preserving, maintaining, or |
|
reconstructing historical landmarks, buildings, and furnishings |
|
that are of historical significance to the county. The foundation |
|
or organization must be incorporated under the law of this state as |
|
a nonprofit corporation. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
