A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the temporary use of average enrollment for purposes of |
|
|
the public school finance system for a school district located in a |
|
|
disaster area. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 48, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 48.0061 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 48.0061. ENROLLMENT-BASED FUNDING DURING DISASTER. |
|
|
Notwithstanding any other provision of this subchapter, for the |
|
|
90-day period following the date on which a disaster area is |
|
|
specified in a declaration of disaster under Chapter 418, |
|
|
Government Code, the commissioner shall provide funding under |
|
|
Chapter 46 and this chapter to a school district located wholly or |
|
|
partly in the disaster area on the basis of the average number of |
|
|
students enrolled in the district during that period. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
