A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the adjustment of the public school financial |
|
|
accountability rating system for certain small and mid-sized school |
|
|
districts to account for the implementation of a local optional |
|
|
teacher designation system. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 39, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 39.088 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 39.088. LOCAL OPTIONAL TEACHER DESIGNATION SYSTEM |
|
|
IMPLEMENTATION ADJUSTMENT FOR FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY. The |
|
|
commissioner shall adjust the financial accountability rating |
|
|
system under Section 39.082 for a school district entitled to an |
|
|
allotment under Section 48.101 to account for the impact of |
|
|
financial practices necessary to implement a local optional teacher |
|
|
designation system under Section 21.3521. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2023-2024 |
|
|
school year. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
