A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to designating December 8 as Special Hearts Day. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 662, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 662.085 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 662.085. SPECIAL HEARTS DAY. (a) December 8 is |
|
|
Special Hearts Day in recognition and celebration of artists with |
|
|
special needs and the mission of Special Hearts in the Arts, a |
|
|
nonprofit organization in Corpus Christi that offers weekly classes |
|
|
in theater arts, dance, music, art, and film to persons with special |
|
|
needs to build a more inclusive community in which people are |
|
|
defined by their abilities rather than their disabilities. |
|
|
(b) Special Hearts Day shall be regularly observed by |
|
|
appropriate ceremonies and activities. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
