A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the definition of a school crossing zone. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 541.302(13), Transportation Code, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(13) "School crossing zone" means a reduced-speed zone |
|
|
designated on a street by a local authority to facilitate safe |
|
|
crossing of the street by children going to or leaving a public or |
|
|
private elementary or secondary school: |
|
|
(A) on a day that the school is in session; and |
|
|
(B) during the time the reduced speed limit |
|
|
applies. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
