A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to a requirement that public institutions of higher |
|
education provide certain information regarding certain women's |
|
health programs to students. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter Z, Chapter 51, Education Code, is |
|
amended by adding Section 51.9198 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 51.9198. REQUIRED INFORMATION REGARDING WOMEN'S |
|
HEALTH PROGRAMS. (a) In this section, "institution of higher |
|
education" has the meaning assigned by Section 61.003. |
|
(b) During the fall semester of each academic year, an |
|
institution of higher education shall distribute by e-mail to each |
|
student enrolled at the institution information regarding women's |
|
health programs administered by the Health and Human Services |
|
Commission, including information about: |
|
(1) the eligibility requirements for those programs; |
|
and |
|
(2) the enrollment procedures for those programs, |
|
including a link to the Health and Human Services Commission's |
|
Internet website that hosts that enrollment information. |
|
SECTION 2. Section 51.9198, Education Code, as added by |
|
this Act, applies beginning with the 2023 fall semester. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
