A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a review of physician licensing standards of other |
|
|
countries. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. (a) In this section, "board" means the Texas |
|
|
Medical Board. |
|
|
(b) The board shall review physician licensing standards, |
|
|
including education requirements, of other countries to identify |
|
|
those countries with standards comparable to those of this state. |
|
|
(c) Not later than December 1, 2024, the board shall submit |
|
|
a report containing the results of the review conducted under |
|
|
Subsection (b) of this section to the governor, the lieutenant |
|
|
governor, the speaker of the house of representatives, and each |
|
|
standing committee of the legislature with primary jurisdiction |
|
|
over the board. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act expires January 1, 2025. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
