A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a study regarding the electric grid facilities that use |
|
|
nuclear energy to generate electricity. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. STUDY. The Public Utility Commission of Texas |
|
|
shall conduct a study regarding: |
|
|
(1) the feasibility and regulatory requirements of |
|
|
integrating into the electric grid additional facilities that use |
|
|
nuclear energy to generate electricity; and |
|
|
(2) the options available for extending the operating |
|
|
life of existing facilities that use nuclear energy to generate |
|
|
electricity. |
|
|
SECTION 2. REPORT. The Public Utility Commission of Texas |
|
|
shall prepare a report with the conclusions of the study with |
|
|
recommendations for regulatory changes and possible economic |
|
|
incentives to support the installation of additional facilities |
|
|
that use nuclear energy to generate electricity and submit the |
|
|
report to the legislature not later than August 31, 2024. |
|
|
SECTION 3. EXPIRATION. This Act expires December 1, 2024. |
|
|
SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect September |
|
|
1, 2023. |
