A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to requiring the Department of Family and Protective |
|
|
Services to adopt a process to allow a foster parent to donate a |
|
|
foster care payment to the department. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 264, Family Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 264.131 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 264.131. DONATION OF FOSTER CARE PAYMENTS. (a) The |
|
|
department shall adopt a policy to allow a foster parent to donate |
|
|
to the department a payment made under Section 264.101. |
|
|
(b) The department may use a donation authorized under this |
|
|
section: |
|
|
(1) in accordance with Section 264.101(e); |
|
|
(2) to provide adoption assistance under Chapter 162; |
|
|
or |
|
|
(3) to provide any other assistance for a foster child |
|
|
authorized by Title 5. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
