A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to the medical accuracy of informational materials given |
|
to a woman seeking an abortion. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 171.014(d), Health and Safety Code, is |
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
(d) The department shall annually review the materials to |
|
determine if changes to the contents of the materials are |
|
necessary. The executive commissioner shall adopt rules necessary |
|
for considering and making changes to the materials, including |
|
rules requiring the department to: |
|
(1) periodically submit the materials to the American |
|
College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists to verify that the |
|
materials are medically accurate; and |
|
(2) revise the materials to incorporate any |
|
recommendations from the American College of Obstetricians and |
|
Gynecologists for improving the medical accuracy of the materials. |
|
SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date |
|
of this Act, the executive commissioner of the Health and Human |
|
Services Commission shall adopt rules necessary to implement the |
|
changes in law made by this Act. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
