A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
 
  relating to the right of the clerk of a court to deduct from the
  amount of the excess proceeds from an ad valorem tax sale of
  property the cost of postage for sending to the former owner of the
  property a notice of the owner's right to claim the proceeds.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 34.03, Tax Code, is amended by adding
  Subsection (d) to read as follows:
         (d)  The clerk may deduct from the amount of the excess
  proceeds the cost of postage for sending to the former owner of the
  property a notice under Subsection (a)(1).
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
