A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the allocation of certain federal money provided under |
|
|
the Cranston-Gonzalez National Affordable Housing Act. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 2306.111, Government Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (j) to read as follows: |
|
|
(j) Notwithstanding any other law, money provided to this |
|
|
state under the Cranston-Gonzalez National Affordable Housing Act |
|
|
(42 U.S.C. Section 12701 et seq.) as a one-time lump sum for a |
|
|
specified use: |
|
|
(1) is not subject to the allocation requirements |
|
|
under this section or the allocation formula developed by the |
|
|
department under Section 2306.1115; and |
|
|
(2) may be allocated for the benefit of any area of |
|
|
this state in the manner specified under federal law. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
