A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a report required to be filed with the Public Education |
|
|
Information Management System by public schools. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 48.009(b-4), Education Code, as added by |
|
|
Chapter 972 (S.B. 2050), Acts of the 87th Legislature, Regular |
|
|
Session, 2021, is amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(b-4) The commissioner by rule shall require each school |
|
|
district and open-enrollment charter school to biannually |
|
|
[annually] report through the Public Education Information |
|
|
Management System the number of reported incidents of bullying that |
|
|
have occurred at each campus. The commissioner's rules shall |
|
|
require a district or school to specify the number of incidents of |
|
|
bullying that included cyberbullying. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 48.009, Education Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (e) to read as follows: |
|
|
(e) All information required by this section must be |
|
|
reported twice each school year through the Public Education |
|
|
Information Management System in October and April. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act applies beginning with the 2023-2024 |
|
|
school year. |
|
|
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
