A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to a report required to be filed with the Public Education
  Information Management System by public schools.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 48.009(b-4), Education Code, as added by
  Chapter 972 (S.B. 2050), Acts of the 87th Legislature, Regular
  Session, 2021, is amended to read as follows:
         (b-4)  The commissioner by rule shall require each school
  district and open-enrollment charter school to biannually
  [annually] report through the Public Education Information
  Management System the number of reported incidents of bullying that
  have occurred at each campus. The commissioner's rules shall
  require a district or school to specify the number of incidents of
  bullying that included cyberbullying.
         SECTION 2.  Section 48.009, Education Code, is amended by
  adding Subsection (e) to read as follows:
         (e)  All information required by this section must be
  reported twice each school year through the Public Education
  Information Management System in October and April.
         SECTION 3.  This Act applies beginning with the 2023-2024
  school year.
         SECTION 4.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
