A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the oversight of Thurgood Marshall School of Law at |
|
|
Texas Southern University. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 106, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 106.315 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 106.315. BOARD OVERSIGHT OF SCHOOL OF LAW. (a) In |
|
|
this section, "administrator" has the meaning assigned by Section |
|
|
51.948. |
|
|
(b) The board shall directly oversee the general management |
|
|
of the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern |
|
|
University. |
|
|
(c) Notwithstanding any other law or policy, each |
|
|
administrator of the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas |
|
|
Southern University shall report directly to the board as necessary |
|
|
or appropriate regarding any matter under the board's authority or |
|
|
control, in lieu of making a report to the president of the |
|
|
university. |

|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
