| relating to protecting a public school educator's ability to | ||
| contact elected officials. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 22, Education Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Section 22.012 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 22.012. CONTACT WITH ELECTED OFFICIALS. A school | ||
| district may not directly or indirectly prohibit an educator from | ||
| contacting the educator's elected officials. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. | ||
