A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the period of time that a slaughterer must preserve the |
|
|
records pertaining to the purchase or slaughter of certain |
|
|
livestock. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 148.011(c), Agriculture Code, is amended |
|
|
to read as follows: |
|
|
(c) The record must be prepared and made available to the |
|
|
Texas Animal Health Commission and for public inspection within 24 |
|
|
hours after the slaughterer receives the livestock. The |
|
|
slaughterer shall preserve the record for at least one year [two |
|
|
years] and shall keep the record open for public inspection at all |
|
|
reasonable hours. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 148.043(b), Agriculture Code, is amended |
|
|
to read as follows: |
|
|
(b) A slaughterer shall preserve the [keep] records under |
|
|
this section for at least one year and shall keep the record open |
|
|
for public inspection at reasonable hours. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
