A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

|
relating to the authority of the Aransas County Navigation District |
|
|
to enter into certain leases. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 5001.101, Special District Local Laws |
|
|
Code, is amended to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 5001.101. PURCHASE OR LEASE OF PROPERTY. (a) Except |
|
|
as provided by Subsection (b), the [The] district may purchase or |
|
|
lease property in the same manner as a county. |
|
|
(b) The district may lease the surface of land for not more |
|
|
than 90 years. The lease may not be extended beyond the 90-year |
|
|
period by renewal, extension, or otherwise. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
