CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, Monsignor Larry J. Droll of St. Ann's Catholic
  Parish in Midland is celebrating the 50th anniversary of his
  ordination as a priest on June 15, 2023, and this occasion truly
  merits special recognition; and
         WHEREAS, After graduating from St. John's High School
  Seminary in San Antonio, Larry Droll studied at Assumption Seminary
  and St. John's Seminary in Collegeville, Minnesota; along the way,
  he earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from St. Mary's
  University and a master's degree in theology from St. John's
  University; he was ordained as a deacon in 1972 and as a priest in
  1973; he went on to receive his licentiate in canon law from the
  Catholic University of America in 1989; and
         WHEREAS, Among his many honors, he was designated Chaplain to
  His Holiness and awarded the title of monsignor by Pope John Paul II
  on November 23, 1989; six years later, he was appointed as a Prelate
  of Honor, and in 2008, he was elevated to the prestigious title of
  Protonotary Apostolic; and
         WHEREAS, Monsignor Droll served as a pastor at a number of
  churches in San Angelo, Ozona, and Wall before taking on his current
  role as a pastor at St. Ann's Catholic Parish in Midland; his many
  responsibilities have included his diocesan assignments as a member
  of the Presbyteral Council, the College of Consultors, and the
  Priest Pension Plan Administrative Board, as well as his tribunal
  assignment as a collegiate judge; in addition, he distinguished
  himself through his service as a chancellor and vicar general, and
  he played an instrumental role in establishing a partnership
  between the Diocese of San Angelo and the Diocese of San Pedro Sula
  in Honduras; and
         WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to his community, Monsignor Droll
  has served as a chaplain for several Knights of Columbus Councils as
  well as the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court of
  St. Catherine of Siena; he has also been involved with the
  Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, Leadership San
  Angelo, the San Angelo Symphony Chorale, the School Health Advisory
  Council of the Wall Independent School District, and the board of
  directors of the Samaritan Counseling Center of West Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of the past five decades, Monsignor
  Larry Droll has wholeheartedly committed his talents and energies
  to the spiritual enrichment of others, and his strong faith and
  compassion have benefited countless people; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 88th Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby congratulate Monsignor Larry J. Droll on the 50th
  anniversary of his ordination as a priest and extend to him sincere
  best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Monsignor Droll as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
