            |  | CONCURRENT RESOLUTION | 
         
            |  | WHEREAS, The people of Texas are fortunate to reside in a vast | 
         
            |  | state that encompasses numerous ecosystems and a rich assortment of | 
         
            |  | plant and animal life; and | 
         
            |  | WHEREAS, Ranging from the lush forests of East Texas to the | 
         
            |  | majestic desert landscape of the Big Bend, from the windswept | 
         
            |  | grasslands of the Panhandle to the barrier islands of the Gulf | 
         
            |  | Coast, these habitats are home to countless species of trees and | 
         
            |  | other vegetation; they are also populated by an immense variety of | 
         
            |  | wildlife, including such signature Texas animals as the javelina, | 
         
            |  | the western diamondback rattlesnake, the roadrunner, and the | 
         
            |  | armadillo, as well as such impressive and rarely seen creatures as | 
         
            |  | the mountain lion, the black bear, and the peregrine falcon; and | 
         
            |  | WHEREAS, These resources benefit the state in many ways; | 
         
            |  | Texans young and old have abundant opportunities to enjoy | 
         
            |  | recreational pursuits and to learn about the wonders of the natural | 
         
            |  | world, and the great Texas outdoors contributes to economic | 
         
            |  | vitality as well; visitors are drawn to the state for fishing, | 
         
            |  | hunting, birding, hiking, boating, and myriad other activities that | 
         
            |  | boost tourism and create jobs; and | 
         
            |  | WHEREAS, The diverse plants, animals, and habitats of the | 
         
            |  | Lone Star State are a source of great pride to the people of Texas, | 
         
            |  | and it is indeed appropriate to celebrate this rich heritage and to | 
         
            |  | highlight the importance of preserving it for future generations; | 
         
            |  | now, therefore, be it | 
         
            |  | RESOLVED, That the 88th Legislature of the State of Texas | 
         
            |  | hereby designate November as Texas Wildlife and Conservation Month; | 
         
            |  | and, be it further | 
         
            |  | RESOLVED, That, in accordance with the provisions of Section | 
         
            |  | 391.004(d), Government Code, this designation remain in effect | 
         
            |  | until the 10th anniversary of the date this resolution is finally | 
         
            |  | passed by the legislature. |
