CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to
  a close with the passing of Fire Chief Curtis Dewayne Brown of the
  Dalhart Fire Department on October 4, 2022, at the age of 51; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Richard Brown and Linda Miller, Curtis
  Brown was born in Dalhart on July 12, 1971; he grew up in Haven,
  Kansas, with the companionship of two siblings, Paul and Billy, and
  he graduated from Haven High School in 1989; and
         WHEREAS, After returning to Texas, Mr. Brown joined the
  Dalhart Fire Department, and he was promoted to captain in his first
  year; he was later named fire chief, and over the course of his
  nearly three decades with the agency, he earned certification as a
  master firefighter and emergency care attendant; he also served as
  the City of Dalhart Fire Marshal for 17 years, and he was an
  instructor at the world's largest live fire training facility, TEEX
  Brayton Fire Training Field, for 10 years; he further distinguished
  himself as a member of Hartley Fire and EMS; among his many honors,
  he was named the 2016 Firefighter of the Year by the Panhandle
  Firefighters' and Fire Marshals' Association and the State
  Firefighters' and Fire Marshals' Association of Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Dedicated to his profession, Mr. Brown held
  leadership positions with both the Panhandle and State
  Firefighters' and Fire Marshals' Associations; he further
  contributed to his community through his service with the Rotary
  Club, the Coffee Memorial Blood Center board, and the Brother's
  Keepers Motorcycle Club Chapter 42; he also coached in local
  softball and baseball leagues, taught area youth fire safety
  skills, and assisted with search and rescue efforts; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Brown enjoyed the love and
  support of his wife, DeNisa, and he took great pride in his five
  children, Hannah, Dustin, Amber, Janice, and Jordan, and his eight
  grandchildren; in his leisure hours, he liked to listen to music and
  ride four-wheelers, all-terrain vehicles, and motorcycles; and
         WHEREAS, Admired for his leadership, generosity, and
  delightful sense of humor, Curtis Brown devoted himself to
  protecting his fellow citizens and improving his community, and he
  leaves behind a record of service that his loved ones can remember
  with pride; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 88th Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby pay tribute to the memory of Fire Chief Curtis Dewayne Brown
  and extend heartfelt sympathy to all who mourn his passing; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
  Curtis Brown.
