CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, Bobby Burns is retiring as president and CEO of the
  Midland Chamber of Commerce in August 2024, drawing to a close a
  successful tenure that has spanned more than a decade; and
         WHEREAS, Since joining the Midland Chamber of Commerce in
  March 2011, Mr. Burns has overseen its four-star accreditation with
  the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the creation of its Star Spangled
  Salute Independence Day celebration; he also assisted in the
  development of a number of important projects, including Loop 250,
  the Scharbauer Sports Complex, and the new terminal at Midland
  International Air and Space Port, and he played an instrumental
  role in the establishment of the Barbara & George H. W. Bush
  Convention Center; and
         WHEREAS, A resident of Midland for over 45 years, Mr. Burns
  has further served his community as chair of the Midland Planning
  and Zoning Commission and as the city's mayor for three terms;
  moreover, he has led the Shepperd Leadership Institute as its
  director, and he has worked as an insurance agent for more than
  three and a half decades; and
         WHEREAS, A strong and dynamic leader, Bobby Burns has done
  much to bring positive change to the Midland community, and his
  efforts have produced results of lasting benefit to countless area
  Texans; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 88th Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby commend Bobby Burns on his service as president and CEO of
  the Midland Chamber of Commerce and extend to him sincere best
  wishes for a rewarding retirement; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Burns as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives and the Texas Senate.
