A JOINT RESOLUTION
|
|
|
proposing a constitutional amendment guaranteeing the right of |
|
|
every person to keep and bear arms. |
|
|
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 23, Article I, Texas Constitution, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 23. Every person [citizen] shall have the right to keep |
|
|
and bear arms in the lawful defence of himself or the State[; but |
|
|
the Legislature shall have power, by law, to regulate the wearing of |
|
|
arms, with a view to prevent crime]. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be |
|
|
submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 7, 2023. |
|
|
The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the |
|
|
proposition: "The constitutional amendment guaranteeing the right |
|
|
of every person to keep and bear arms." |
