A JOINT RESOLUTION
|
|
|
proposing a constitutional amendment providing for equality under |
|
|
the law regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation. |
|
|
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 3a, Article I, Texas Constitution, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 3a. Equality under the law shall not be denied or |
|
|
abridged because of sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, |
|
|
color, creed, or national origin. This amendment is |
|
|
self-operative. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be |
|
|
submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 7, 2023. |
|
|
The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the |
|
|
proposition: "The constitutional amendment providing for equality |
|
|
under the law regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation." |
