R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. Bobby Ott of the Temple Independent School
  District has been named the 2022 Superintendent of the Year by the
  Texas Association of School Boards; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Ott earned his bachelor's and master's degrees
  at Angelo State University and his doctorate at The University of
  Texas at Austin, and he began his career as a coach, teacher, and
  principal in Round Rock and Anson; after serving as director of
  statewide initiatives for the Texas Education Agency and director
  of literacy initiatives for the UT System, he was deputy
  superintendent in Copperas Cove and Killeen before joining Temple
  ISD in 2012 as assistant superintendent of curriculum and
  instruction; during his nearly six-year tenure in this position, he
  helped to greatly improve the district's ratings with the state
  accountability system; and
         WHEREAS, Since becoming Temple's superintendent in April
  2018, Dr. Ott has demonstrated remarkable drive, energy, and
  initiative; his excellent working relationship with the board of
  trustees helped the board win recognition as 2019-2020 Region 12
  School Board of the Year, and under his leadership, the district has
  received national awards for two years in a row for fiscal
  transparency and stewardship from the Government Finance Officers
  Association and ASBO International; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Ott also demonstrated remarkable leadership
  during the COVID-19 pandemic, and he oversaw the successful passage
  of a $164.8 million bond package for the district in 2022; he
  presents an annual overview of the district to civic groups and
  other stakeholders across the community, and he sends out a monthly
  digital newsletter, Ott's Outlook, to more than 5,000 subscribers;
  and
         WHEREAS, In addition to his professional responsibilities,
  Dr. Ott finds time to give back to his community as a board member
  of Workforce Solutions of Central Texas, the Temple Economic
  Development Corporation, the Temple Chamber of Commerce, McLane
  Children's Medical Center, the Temple Education Foundation, and the
  State Advisory Council of the Texas Music Educators Association,
  among other groups; in all his endeavors, he benefits from the love
  and support of his wife, Nicole, and his two daughters, Jordan and
  Tatum; and
         WHEREAS, Through his unwavering dedication to area students
  and staff, Bobby Ott has led the way in fostering a supportive and
  challenging educational environment, and he has made valuable
  contributions to advancing public education in the Lone Star State;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Bobby Ott on being recognized
  as TASB's 2022 Superintendent of the Year and extend to him sincere
  best wishes for continued success in his important work; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Ott as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
