R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Wesley Hunt of Houston has been elected to the
  United States House of Representatives, and he was officially sworn
  into office on January 7, 2023; and
         WHEREAS, Wesley Hunt represents the newly created 38th
  Congressional District, which covers parts of Houston and Harris
  County, including much of the Katy Freeway corridor west of
  downtown Houston and the Houston suburbs of Jersey Village,
  Cypress, Tomball, Katy, and Klein; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Houston, Congressman Hunt grew up in a
  military family and is a proud alumnus of St. John's School;
  following his graduation, he accepted an appointment to the United
  States Military Academy at West Point; in 2004, he received his
  commission in the U.S. Army and graduated from West Point,
  receiving a bachelor's degree in leadership and management with a
  field of study in mechanical engineering; he subsequently spent
  eight years in the army as an aviation branch officer and an AH-64D
  Apache Longbow helicopter pilot; and
         WHEREAS, Representative Hunt's military service included a
  combat deployment to Iraq and two deployments to Saudi Arabia,
  where he served as a diplomatic liaison officer; in that role, he
  represented the U.S. government in missions involving the Royal
  Saudi Land Forces Aviation Command; following his honorable
  discharge at the rank of captain, he earned master's degrees in
  business administration, public administration, and industrial and
  labor relations from Cornell University; and
         WHEREAS, Actively involved with many organizations in the
  Houston area, Congressman Hunt is a dedicated volunteer and serves
  on the board of trustees at St. John's School; moreover, he has
  mentored youth at the MacCormick Juvenile Detention Center and at
  Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas in Austin; he and his
  wife, Emily, are the devoted parents of two daughters, Victoria and
  Olivia; and
         WHEREAS, Wesley Hunt has demonstrated a longstanding
  commitment to serving his country and his community, and his
  leadership will be integral to the important work carried out by the
  U.S. Congress in the years ahead; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Honorable Wesley Hunt on his
  election to the U.S. House of Representatives and extend to him
  sincere best wishes for a successful term in office; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Congressman Hunt as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
