R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Sarah Depew is graduating from the Marshall-Wythe |
|
School of Law at the College of William & Mary in May 2023; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Depew first attended Collin College Plano |
|
Campus from 2001 to 2004 before transferring to Texas A&M |
|
University, where she earned both a bachelor's degree and a master's |
|
degree in psychology; she was also employed in a cognitive sciences |
|
laboratory studying the effects of language on perception; and |
|
WHEREAS, After earning her master's degree in 2008, Ms. Depew |
|
began working for the state's foster care system, ensuring the |
|
well-being of children and helping them to find safe and permanent |
|
homes; she left Child Protective Services in 2013 and continued to |
|
serve youth in foster care by providing them with free tutoring and |
|
volunteering with CASA of Collin County; in addition, she |
|
established a neighborhood free food pantry that offers vital |
|
support to families in need; she further demonstrated her |
|
commitment to her community by running for the Texas House of |
|
Representatives in 2018, all while raising two children as a |
|
stay-at-home mother; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Depew will graduate from law school with a |
|
concentration in international law, and she plans to return to |
|
Collin County to continue serving the community; and |
|
WHEREAS, Exciting challenges and opportunities await this |
|
outstanding Texan, and it is a pleasure to join her family and |
|
friends in recognizing her as she embarks on a future bright with |
|
promise; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Sarah Depew on her graduation from |
|
the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William & Mary |
|
and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all |
|
her endeavors; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Depew as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
