R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Clover Club of Kaufman celebrated its 125th |
|
|
anniversary on May 12, 2022; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This notable organization traces its origins back to |
|
|
1897, when its four charter members founded a club to study American |
|
|
history and literature; the group was initially known as the |
|
|
Four-Leaf Clover Club, and in 1899, its name was shortened to the |
|
|
Clover Club; in 1903, the group joined the General Federation of |
|
|
Women's Clubs, an international organization dedicated to |
|
|
philanthropy and volunteerism; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Clover Club has worked |
|
|
tirelessly to improve the quality of life in the community; it |
|
|
played an instrumental role in establishing the Kaufman County |
|
|
Library in 1968, and it has continued to contribute to the library |
|
|
through monetary donations; moreover, the club has supported a |
|
|
variety of initiatives focused on arts and culture, the |
|
|
environment, education, civic engagement, and health and wellness; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Today, the Clover Club benefits from the able |
|
|
guidance of president Barbara Harvey, and its members have the |
|
|
opportunity to participate in a number of education, training, and |
|
|
leadership programs; the organization has received honors from the |
|
|
City of Kaufman and the General Federation of Women's Clubs; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For more than a century, the members of the Clover |
|
|
Club of Kaufman have been a dynamic and positive force in their |
|
|
community, and it is a pleasure to recognize the group for its long |
|
|
history of exceptional service; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Clover Club of Kaufman on its |
|
|
125th anniversary and extend to all those associated with the club |
|
|
sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the Clover Club of Kaufman as an expression of high |
|
|
regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
